A Life Transforming Experience

I started meditating and chanting mantra when I was 12 years old and began to practice yoga at 15. When I was 16, I took my yoga teacher training with Lisa Asha Rapp at My Yoga Spirit, and from her I learned what real devotion is. She loved her teachers with all her heart and that kind of intense feeling around what it is to really be a student was incredibly contagious. She fostered a love of learning and a curiosity in me that continues to unfold to this day.

My teacher training class had only 2 people in it, so there was no hiding. We had to really know our shit. The program was intensely rigorous, and half of it was devoted to Raja Yoga (the philosophy of yoga). I’ll always remember the moment when we had traveled to Satchidananda Ashram in Yogaville, Virginia and just feeling so overwhelmed by everything I was learning that I sat underneath the giant murti of Nataraj on Mt. Kailash and just wept. I thought “I’ll never be a yoga teacher.”

But as fate would have it, I was called upon to teach almost immediately after, and I’ve been a full-time career yoga teacher since. My teachers gave me a chance to fail and a chance to soar. We practiced intensely together, and it was that intensity of practice that kept me coming back time and time again.

Great teachers sing of the means of developing spiritual devotion.

-Narada Bhakti Sutras

I’ve been teaching yoga for half of my life now. I started directing teacher training programs when I was 21 and have had the chance to learn from and teach beside some of the most wonderful scholars, practitioners, and teachers of the modern yoga community.

I’m not interested in “making yoga relevant”, or having students that go on to be instagram influencers, or yoga celebrities. I want to inspire you to dive deep. I want you to recognize and be supported by your own Enoughness.
I’m interested in the gravity of this practice; how it brings you home to yourself time and time again.

I know first hand that when you walk into the room to facilitate the experience of yoga for others that all you can depend upon is the grace of your teachers and the depth of your own practice.
I’ve devoted my life to Yoga and it’s practice, to this exquisite formula of depth over time, and I want to share that with you.

A teacher training is just the beginning of that process, and I want to go on that journey with you. If you’ve been longing to learn more about yoga and meditation or to learn the necessary skills to teach a well-thought out class that has it’s roots in the rich wisdom traditions of India, this program is for you.

I offer bespoke, intimate, teacher training intensive experiences all over the world in retreat and studio formats. These programs harken back to the ancient system of when students lived and studied with their teacher.

Each day we’ll practice together. We’ll chant and meditate and explore the breath-work and poses of the yoga system. You’ll learn physical and subtle anatomy and how to safely guide students in and out of postures and how these shapes can be intelligently strung together. We’ll examine the sacred texts of the yoga tradition in an attempt to understand how this wisdom relates not only to our sadhana (spiritual practice), but also to our everyday lives. We will live and breathe the meaning of Satsang–being in Reality together.

THE YOGA OF DEVOTION TRAINING & IMMERSION

for Yoga Teachers and Dedicated Practitioners

February -June 2024

Yoga philosophy is not just the acquisition of knowledge or the collecting of trivia.

Yoga philosophy isn’t to be approached like one approaches history, math, or science.

It inspires and empowers practice. It compels the yogi forward on the path of Realization.

Yoga philosophy trains the mind in a structured way.

It alchemizes our wounds into wisdom.

Yoga philosophy is a means for compelling the individual to make regular contact with the sublime.

It creates an inner silence that allows the voice of the Innermost Self to be heard.

It aids us in the divine act of Remembrance.
